How To Wire A Sound System For A Small Room

August 25th, 2007 by Donovan · 3 Comments

When wiring a sound system for a smaller room to ensure maximum clarity and volume, you should follow these simple procedures.

Avoid Buying Multiple Sound Systems

Buying one sound system allows for maximum clarity. When you mismatch technologies your sound goes from super clear to a muffled karaoke machine.

Speaker Placement

Make a triangle between where your sitting and the left and right speakers. If you can, situate your center channel as close to your TV as possible.

Decorations

Adding carpet, rugs or curtains absorb sound, so you often help eliminate the reverb you would otherwise. It’s like an empty room without them, so furniture will be your ally.

Don’t Over Do It

6.1, 7.1 systems direct the sound to specific locations in your room. You can get away with a decent 5.1 system with bookshelf speakers and a 10′ subwoofer.
